Sun Nov 11th 1:30pm Poplar Hill Park Cenotaph

Come stand alongside the Poplar Hill & District Lions and other dignitaries at 1pm on Remembrance Sunday November 10th, at Poplar Hill Park Cenotaph to remember the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month 1918), the end of the Great War - the war to end all wars. Give tribute to the Canadians throughout the 100 years who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our beautiful country.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae was a Canadian soldier, physician and poet from Guelph, Ontario.
